What is Clinical Supervision?

Clinical supervision is a rich and collaborative endeavour to ensure that the best quality of care is delivered to clients safely and effectively. The supervisee-supervisor relationship is a collaborative endeavour, using reflection, socratic dialogue, challenge where needed, and supporting clinical skill development and risk and safeguarding management.

My Clinical Supervision Experience

I've been supervising clinicians for 14 years. My experience spans across the private and public sectors, and I have a breadth of experience. Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2010, I've specialised in Adult Mental Health. My final, year-long, placement as a trainee was a rich experience working within four therapeutic modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and a Therapeutic Community-informed group intervention for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder. The clinical work stretched me, and the individual and group supervision from four supervisors was an extraordinarily rich experience, which I still draw on in my clinical work and share with my supervisees.

Since that time, I have completed several supervision workshops with the BABCP and Oxford University. I'm currently supervised by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre.

I have supervised:

  • Support Workers
  • Assistant Psychologists
  • Trainee Clinical Psychologists
  • Cognitive Behavioural Practitioners
  • Practitioner Clinical and Counselling Psychologists
  • Psychiatric Nurses

I have worked in a range of services:

  • Increasing Access to Psychological Therapy (now Talking Therapies in the NHS)
  • Specialist Weight Management NHS (Tier 3)
  • Secondary Care Mental Health Services (NHS)
  • Independent Practitioner
  • Corporate Mental Health

My main therapeutic modality is CBT. I enjoy the transparency and collaboration of the model. I'm happy to provide you with BABCP accreditation by reviewing and evaluating recordings of therapy sessions.

Should you have any individual needs in a certain area of practice that I haven't outlined here, please book a free session to discuss if I can be of help.

"Caroline challenges my practice..."

"I've had the pleasure of working in the same organisation as Caroline since 2022. When I left that role, I actively sought her out as my clinical supervisor based on my experience of her expertise in CBT and her well-deserved reputation. She's fully lived up to these expectations. Caroline uses a range of methods to support my learning goals and ongoing professional development. Although I'm an experienced therapist, she challenges my practice in ways that are consistently constructive, encouraging and supportive. I'd highly recommend Caroline as a clinical supervisor."
